Hp Dc7700 Specifications Series Is SupportedAs I fóund out that thé E7x00 series is supported with the latest BIOS and microcode installed, I thought there must be a chance to get the X6800 working because there is no big difference between an E6700 and this processor. At the momént I have twó DC7700 vpro motherboards, one with the Core 2 Duo E6700 and the second one that is running fine with the Core 2 Extreme X6800 cpu. A support request was submitted to HP to fix the last BIOS release, but nothing has been forthcoming. Your influence was instrumental in my choosing to buy the dc7900 over a dc7800. Ill admit, l bid on án 8000 Elite but, it was a little out of my just-for-fun allowance Ive certainly learned a great deal, through my associaton with you and this HP Forum and I anticipate Ill learn a great deal more in the future Keep Up Your Good Work Kindest Regards, wfejnieh2. Other than á theoretical quéstion; it appears thé X6800 should fit in a dc7700 - but; whats there to gain The dc7700s multiplier is fixed Why waste the Extreme in a dc7700 The possibility of running Intels Core 2 Duos E7xxx series (as Paul mentions) seems more realistic; as a goal.
